Household Contents insurance provides cover for household goods and personal belongings whilst in the home. Most Contents Insurance policies cover damage to the contents of your home caused by a number of specified events or ‘perils’, such as:
In addition, most home contents insurance policies also include a number of other benefits, such as:
- Fire, Smoke, Lightning, Explosion or Earthquake.
- Subsidence, Heave or Landslip.
- Storm, Flood, Falling trees or branches.
- Escape of water or oil.
- Theft or Attempted Theft.
- Riot or Malicious Acts.
- Impact by aircraft, vehicles or animals.
- Legal liability as occupier.
In addition, most home contents insurance policies also include a number of other benefits, such as:
- Accidental damage to TV, satellite, video, audio and computer equipment in the home.
- Cost of Alternative Accommodation. If your home becomes uninhabitable following an insured claim (e.g. fire or flood), insurers will pay for the cost of alternative accommodation until your home can be repaired/rebuilt. A limit (typically 20% of the Contents sum insured) applies.
- Loss of metered water or oil.
- Replacement keys or locks in the event of accidental damage or loss.
