Some insurance policies include certain benefits as standard, whilst other benefits may be available as optional covers in return for an extra premium.

Some of the more common Car Insurance policy benefits:

If any of the windows in your car are broken or damaged, this can be claimed for if your policy includes Windscreen Cover (most Comprehensive policies do). You will usually need to pay an excess (generally only £50-£60), however some insurers will waive this excess if the glass/window can be repaired as opposed to being replaced.

Most insurers have special arrangements with Windscreen/Glass companies, enabling your window to be replaced/repaired more quickly. Check the procedure for Glass/Windscreen claims with the insurer, as if you do not use the insurer’s preferred glass company, there may be limit on the amount you can claim, or in some cases a higher excess may apply

Not all policies offer this cover and some insurers will only provide the cover for certain drivers (e.g. drivers over a certain age). If in force, this extension provides cover whilst you, the policyholder, drives another motor car which is not owned by you.

Regardless of your main policy cover for your own vehicle, the cover provided by the Driving Other Cars extension is limited to Third Party only. This means if you chose to drive another vehicle using this extension, there will be no cover under your policy for the car you are driving; the only cover applicable is your third party liability cover for loss of or damage to third party property or third party injury.
